South Korea Cops Seize $1.72M and Arrests 17 During a Raid in Illegal Gambling
As per the reports, South Korean cops have raided illegal sports betting activity in the city Busan. During the raid, cops seized $1.7 million cash and arrested 17, and detained 21 others. Additionally, the police took three apartments and two houses under control.
According to the reports, the total worth of the two gambling operations was assessed to be $797 million. The 17 individuals are accused of running illicit sports betting websites and violating the National Sports Promotion Act.
Key Suspect goes hiding
Although the police have detained 38 people but are still looking out for the key suspect of the gambling activity, the accused is said to be in the forties. Interpol is currently looking for him after reports that he fled South Korea.
Police mentioned that the kingpin was running illegal gambling activity for the past four years. All servers were directed to Vietnam, China, and other countries.
This gambling raid comes just before the Olympics 2021 games in Tokyo. There are rumors that there will be many illegal bets at the summer Olympic Games.
Legal Casino at Incheon Airport
A reputed US-based Casino company, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE), said that they have plans to open a multibillion-dollar casino resort in the second half of 2022 at Incheon International Airport in South Korea.
It will have three luxury hotels, a big theatre, a conference center, and several casino games. Residents of South Korea will not be permitted to enter the casino, but overseas visitors can.
Incheon International Airport is a hub for Seoul, South Korea. Private sleeping rooms, a golf course, a spa, an ice rink, a video gaming center, the Museum of Korean Culture, an indoor garden, and a medical facility are already open at the airport.
South Korean residents, however, are allowed to gamble at Kangwon Land, a casino resort owned and run by the South Korean government and is located in the Gangwon Province.
